Last night The University of Adelaide uploaded Burton’s edition of The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night. Burton’s masterpiece, originally published in ten volumes, with a further six supplementary volumes, and with more than 8,000 footnotes, now available as an ebook edition, complete with 70 illustrations. I started this in 2006, got tired after ten volumes, set it aside, and resumed work just a couple of weeks ago. (Yeah, I forgot about it!) Probably the biggest and most complex book I have ever worked on, the epub file is 12MB, the text over 16MB. Be warned! Although this is listed elsewhere under “Fairy tales”, it is definitely NOT suitable for children, and contains graphical depictions of sex and violence. Enjoy! Download ebook.
